Resum Hem cregut convenient donar a conèixer el Kalinox® (òxid nitrós), utilitzat en pediatria com a fàrmac que indueix a una sedació conscient del pacient per lo novedós que és. És un gas que s’utilitza en procediments dolorosos de curta durada, sempre en pacients per sobre de 3 anys d’edat i col·laboradors, que pot presentar uns efectes adversos lleus però sempre autolimitats. És de fàcil maneig, s’utilitza poc material i amb un cost acceptable, on la infermera té un paper important des de l’inici fins al final del procediment: preparant el material, identificant al pacient, omplint el full de registre, monitoritzant-lo, controlant i anotant constants vitals, enregistrant també el flux d’òxid nitrós administrat i finalment fent una valoració del dolor per part del nen.
S’ha demostrat mitjançant un estudi multicèntric prospectiu, la seva eficàcia, obtenint resultats molt satisfactoris.

Title:  Application nitrous oxide (Kalinox®) in pediatrics.
Summary:  We thought it useful to make known the Kalinox ® (nitrous oxide) used in pediatrics as a drug that induces conscious sedation of the patient so that it is novel.
It is a gas that is used in painful procedures of short duration, always in patients over three years of age collaborators, who may present mild adverse effects and always self-limited. It is of easy managing, using slightly materially and with an acceptable cost, where the nurse has an important role from the beginning until the end of the process: preparing the material, identifying the patient, refilling the record sheet, monitor, control and consistent scoring vital also to record the flow of nitrous oxide and finally managed to make an assessment of pain by the child.
It has been demonstrated by a prospective multicenter study, its effectiveness, obtaining very satisfactory results.
